Proposal: Hidden Connections

timed out. fails 1-4—Clucky

Enact a rule entitled “Connections”:
The degree of separation between two Wikipedia posts is defined as the shortest number of inter-Wikipedia links it takes to get from one Wikipedia post to another without retracing any steps. (See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Six_degrees_of_Wikipedia for more info).

Once per change of image, a player may post a story post with the title “Connections”, and within the body of the post reveal the degree of separation between their current image and their style. (http://beta.degreesofwikipedia.com/ is really helpful for this) Any player who does so gains 2 eyes. If it can be shown that a player revealed an incorrect degree of separation, that player becomes Impossible.

More ways to get eyes/give hints about style.

against Unfairly benefits those who have the time and scripting know-how to work out the possible Styles.

This would be an interesting mechanic if the full distance matrix was available to us and, in any case, we’d have to designate set revisions of the pages to use (I suspect that wikipedia wouldn’t like it if blognomic players edited their pages for tactical reasons).

against Per Purplebeard. Would also be possible to untraceably edit an intervening article to change the number of degrees between the two articles, immediately after making the story post.
