Unpopular, 1-6. Failed by JonathanDark.

To “Relationships”, add a paragraph:-

As a virtual Round Action, a Wordsmith may Accuse another Wordsmith of rivalrous thoughts towards them: if the Accused has the Accuser as their Rival, the Accused loses 3 points and stops having a Rival; otherwise the Accuser loses 3 points. When points are lost in this way the Puzzler should make a blog post announcing this.

Seems a bit too high-stakes, especially as for most people there’s only one or two candidates. I’d be more okay with this if it was just losing the rival, the point penalty feels too swingeing.

I think that this is also completely invisible to the rival in question, which isn’t ideal.

Not completely invisible, there’ll be a gamestate update of -3 Points which probably can’t happen any other way. I’ll add an explicit blog post.

Not sure about the stakes.

I think against on this; on the one hand, this means that choosing a Rival will often present more risk than reward; on the other, it means that players with existing Rivals will likely end up issuing a lot more 1s as obfuscation. The flattening of the scoring possibility space, of course, only really benefits the frontrunner.
