Proposal: It’s All About The Blood

Reached quorum with 19 votes FOR. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 15 Jan 2010 02:52:40 UTC

Enact a new Rule, “Bloodline”:-

Each Guest has a degree of relation to Lord Cartlesham, represented as a number between 1 and 1000 and tracked privately by the Executor. The Guest with the lowest degree of relation is Lord Cartlesham’s next of kin.

If a Guest has no degree of relation defined, the Executor may privately assign a randomly-selected degree to that Guest. If two Guests should ever have the same degree, the Executor should choose one of those Guests at random and raise or lower their degree by 1.

Is relation tracked in the GNDT, or kept secret?

It is “tracked privately by the Executor”, at least for now.

I missed that

Semantically weird.  A high degree of relation is the least related? for

The Detective maybe should have eir degree of relation altered, though.

(Oh, and the next of kin should be the _Living_ Guest with the lowest degree of relation, no?)

(Oh, yes, good point, I was writing these two proposals simultaneously. It’s all about stemming the bloodline.)

The number was intended roughly as a degrees-of-separation, with all the missing numbers being dead or insane or in the colonies or something (I made it a big number so we could drop new players in and out painlessly); only those who were valid inheritors have been invited to the Manor.

Something about this doesn’t sit well with me… not that a nebulous issue like that is worth much.

for I have to note that ‘take a random number between 998 and 999’ would still constitute a randomly selected degree between 1 and 1000, so this rule could be easily abused by the Executor (not that I don’t trust you in this matter, which is why I’m voting FOR).

Note to admins: Remember that proposals have to be open for 12 full hours before they can be enacted, even if they hit quorum. (Alethiophile’s already processed one illegally, but we can live without undoing it.)

Hmm… I’ll vote for.
Now, how long will it take for someone to turn this into a victory condition?

for  Usually it takes a while, people are scared of that.

‘uniformly’ at random would make me happier, kevan.

Anonyman, please make a post announcing your arrival per Rule 1.2.
