In the rule werewolves, replace the text

If it is Nighttime, if all living Werewolves have the same target, if they have not killed anyone since the most recent Daytime, and if their target is still Alive, then the Mayor may post a blog entry announcing that their target has been killed. That Villager is now Dead.

with

If it is Nighttime, If all living Werewolves have the same target, if they have not killed anyone since the most recent Daytime, and if the target is still Alive, then the Mayor shall generate a random number from 1 to 10. If the result is 2-10, the mayor may post a blog entry announcing that their target has been murdered. That Villager is now Dead. If the result is 1, the Villager escapes death with a clue. The clue is a list of N names, where N is quorum divided by 2, plus 1. The list of names shall be all villagers, including only one werewolf. The mayor shall deliver the clue to the still alive villager secretly via e-mail or some similar means.

for I’d prefer a 1-in-5 to a 1-in-10, though.

I’d honestly prefer an infection mechanism in there, too, but I doubt that’d fly…

against The way I understand the rules, the villager will escape and then get killed anyway because the werewolf’s targeting won’t be cut.

The villager will survive, and unless the werewolves target the same again, the villager wont die next.

against Real werewolf/mafia doesn’t work that way. Neither should this. Maybe adding a doctor/healer to stop people from dieing?

against I’m with Zaratustra—why wouldn’t you keep targeting the person who now has a clue to your identity?

Tesla4D:

Because the werewolves won’t know whether the villager escaped because of a chance roll or poor coordination.

Hmm, fair enough.  CoV imperial

This could result in an immediate ID if the game shrinks to four players with two werewolves still alive, though.

...  Or maybe not, missed the +1.

against Zara’s point is that after I’ve rolled a 1, the subject is still targetted, so I immediately have to roll again, and again, until they’re dead.

against Ah.  Also, shouldn’t the clue-names have to be living villagers?

Chivalrybean:

Ah… didn’t realize that it would just be a a situation where you reroll until they die. Looks like this will need changed quite a bit.
