Proposal: Le Temps Du Loup

Reached quorum, 8 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 16 Oct 2007 15:18:38 UTC

Enact a new Rule, “Daytime and Nighttime”:-

Time in Zahndorf is divided into Daytime and Nighttime. All even-numbered days in the real world are Daytime in Zahndorf, and all odd-numbered days are Nighttime - this is automatically reflected in the colour of the sky at the top of the BlogNomic weblog.

In the rule “Werewolves”, replace the final paragraph with:-

If it is Nighttime, if all living Werewolves have the same target, if they have not killed anyone since the most recent Daytime, and if their target is still Alive, then the Mayor may post a blog entry announcing that their target has been killed. That Villager is now Dead.

for out of respect for our Fearless Mayor, but I have my doubts as to using the real-world calendar.

What are the doubts? This gets a bit blurry at the ends of some months, but seems a reasonable sacrifice for keeping it simple.

What if you, Kevan, should be unavailable to participate for a few days—time marches on, but what effect would werewolf kills have?  Also, those of us who check blognomic from work presumably do so on weekdays—but there will be a day-night cycle every weekend.

I don’t think that “spamming” the mainpage with time advance posts is problematic.  You could even announce in advance that your intent is to advance time by one period every 24 hours, or announce something like “It’s friday night in the real world, my intent is for Day 3:Daytime to begin at 00:00:01 UTC on Monday, October 22nd.

Kill processing was intentionally worded as “the Mayor may” so that nothing actually explodes if I’m not around.
