Proposal: Let the Games Begin

14-8-2 means this sucker’s enacted. -coppro

Create a new rule, “Involuntary Representation Service”:

In today’s economy, the voting power of Players has been damaged by inflation. In order to reinvigorate our limping lobbying industry, some Dynastic Proposals can be Representation Proposals. A Representation Proposal’s text begins with the line “REPRESENTING:” followed by a list of Players. Those Players are said to be Represented by the Proposal. The author is always Represented by such a Proposal, even if not included in the list.

Whenever a Representation Proposal is enacted, each Player it represents becomes eligible to receive a Stimulus Package.

If a player Represented by a Proposal votes AGAINST that Proposal, it counts as if the author of that Proposal has voted AGAINST it (in other words, it has been Self-Killed), for the purposes of the rule “1.6 Resolution of Proposals”.

My take on a factions and secrets game.

for That’s not a bad way to do factions, actually.

I personally don’t think Stimulus Package should be awarded for making proposals, or at least not that easily. Its an overused mechanic.

Like, what stops me from making a proposal that simple represents quorum total players? They all have no reason not to vote for it, if it passes they each get SP. Everyone doing that twice a day will cause 100 proposals today with everyone getting on average 50 SP. Completly breaks the point of proposals.

Clucky: You can try that… but it won’t work. There are many contrarians around that would SK that kind of proposal given the chance. I know I would. I see a few players that would too. Furthermore, they wouldn’t get any richer if everyone can do it, for your scam to work, there would have to be a large rigidly defined faction working coordinately… and if you had such a following, well, you might as well just declare victory, don’t you think?

The “Vote for this and everyone (or most of everyone) gets points!” proposals usually fail for being uninteresting.

@arthexis: Then I wouldn’t include those people in the Represention list. Finding quorum of people who want free points is very different from finding quorum of people who want me to win.

@Ornithopter: If everyone gets points, there clearly is no reason to do it. If only some people get points its clearly in their favor to vote for it.

for Ain’t no rule says someone on the Representation list can’t backstab the group. I’m iffy on giving SP for votes, but we can fix that if we need to.
