Proposal: Locations

Reached quorum 9 votes to 0, enacted by Kevan. Haven’t put the names on the Map because the rule doesn’t say to.

If the “Habitat” exists and is defined in the game’s rules, include the following into the section of the ruleset where that definition exists.

Each Cell of the Habitat Map represents a Location. A Location has a Name. A Location’s Name by default is “Foggy Location”. The Creature can’t travel to Locations named “Foggy Location”.

The Creature’s starting location is named “Sea of Eden”.

Kind of like a “Fog of War” mechanic.

Note: What about the starting position?

Note: Why not update the Movement/Function proposals to interact with this?

Note: It’s Foggy as well. We’re not travelling to it though, because we’re already there, so no problem.

Note: is foggy marked with a . ? That would explain all those .
I was wondering what they were doing there.

Note: This proposal should give the Creature a way to define a location. As it is now it would simply lock it in place.

Note: this place is good.

Note: most FoW mechanics don’t actually prevent movement.  Also, I forsee a big headache if Viv is the only one who knows where things actually are.  I think the sensory organ should allow us to take action, but not define whether or not we, the players, know where things are.

Note: I wouldn’t know since I’m just a generic Organ.

Note: I’m not convinced that it shouldn’t be locked until the habitat is better defined. In fact, I don’t think the rules or a proposal have stated a starting position. Only the x in the center of the habitat page.

Note: Made it much simpler.

for works for me, now how to get out of not being able to move anywhere?

You just need to give names to the other locations.

I liked the first version better. This also makes the map huge, and I’m not sure I want that (though I’m not opposed). It also doesn’t specify where “sea of Eden” is, as the creature’s location has never been specified to be anywhere in any proposal.

The sea of Eden might be a small submarine brine pool.

[derrick] The creature’s location is defined as the X on https://wiki.blognomic.com/index.php?title=Map_of_Habitat
Although I guess “starting location” isn’t defined, so everything is set to “Foggy Location”

hmmm.

The starting location of the organism is valid term, and if it is indeed the current location of the x on the map, it will be there.

I would still dispute that we’ve ever said that the organism starts in the center of the habitat, but I’m fairly sure that a call for judgement can safely make the x legal. and its not actually this proposal’s fault that motion is allowed without a position being defined for

[Derrick] The Habitat rule will (when enacted) say “The Creature’s location in that grid is marked with an X.”, and the X was there when the wiki page was created, so it’s legal gamestate.
