Actually, CoV   for now because I don’t particularly care for it to be a Serve action. If you’re an Open Truck, you’ve done all your actions in the Prep Phase, and if there are no Closed Trucks, it would go immediately into the Night action with no chance to declare Happy Hour.

Serve Phase actions have generally been for Closed Trucks, and a Closed Truck wouldn’t declare Happy Hour.

Isn’t this covered by “A Happy Hour may not be declared on a Saturday or Sunday”?

A Timekeeper AGAINST for it being a Serve action: it’s best to declare a Happy Hour during the Serve phase so that nobody can change their prices in response to it, but (if there are few or no closed trucks) it’s down to the luck of timing whether each player will get the chance to.

Also some busywork here in it incentivising everyone (if they don’t want a $20 dish) to add $1 to all of their prices and then call a $1 Happy Hour discount, just to get the bonus effect.

That’s kind of the point of this proposal. There’s not a strong benefit to declaring a happy hour and I’d like to fix that. I get the timekeeping objection though.

The idea behind making it a Serve Action wasn’t to increase its usage. I like the flexibility of being able to change my pricing at the last minute even though my Menu is locked in. I just didn’t see any reason that it couldn’t also be a Serve action until Kevan brought up the timekeeping issue.

I also hadn’t considered Kevan’s point that this would incentivize everyone to declare a Happy Hour.

I still like the idea of a Happy Hour thematically but as it stands the only real reason to declare a Happy Hour is for its psychological value. Which I find interesting, but psychologically a Happy Hour should also affect Customers not just players. Irl, the reason food businesses have happy hours is to make up lost profit in volume during times where traffic is typically lower.

Given that I’m the one who originally proposed Happy Hour I’m just trying to make an attempt to improve upon the idea rather than trash it completely.
