Proposal: New Family

3 to 1 after 48 hours. Enacted by Derrick.

Adminned at 16 Oct 2017 13:13:20 UTC

Change one of the Adams to the Misers
Change the Misers’ candy type to “Gummy Bears”
Get rid of all the Misers’ remaining stats
Add a new stat for the Misers called “Candy Quantity” which is initially set to 20.

Add the following special rule for the Misers:

The Misers have always hated Halloween but they leave a bowl of candy out on their doorstep with a sign that says “Only take one” in menacing red ink. If a Trick-or-Treater is on the Misers doorstep they can take as many candies as they want from the bowl, decreasing the Candy Quantity by that amount. If a Trick-or-Treater knocks on their door while the time is “The Big Night” the Misers will take all of that Trick-or-Treater’s Tricks, Treats, Candy, and Costumes.

Add the following bullet point to the end of the list in “Scoring”:

* 10 points shall be awarded to any Trick-or-Treater who was honest and only took one candy from the Misers.

Yeah, you know that family. I’ll be honest, in real life, this is my strategy.

This is a great idea, but a bad implementation. the first Person to arrive can gaurentee himself 30 points (20 for each candy, 10 for most gummy bears), achieve the best rounded bag for another 10 points with minimal effort (as long as he picks up every kind of candy), and has a big head start on having the most candy. The only way that doesn’t end in his victory is if everyone conspires to mug (sorry, I meant scare) him and take his precious 20 gummy bears.

Its a good concept, but as implemented it makes the first person to sign on after the big night starts the winner.

“10 for most gummy bears”
Upon review of “10 points shall be awarded to the Trick-or-Treater who has at least one of all candy types and the most units in their lowest candy type for having the best rounded loot bag.”
They’d need to make gummy bears their lowest candy type. That means they must have equal or greater amount of each candy type. So they could take 20 gummy bears, spend 19 of them for movement and get 1 or more of each other candy type for that extra bonus but I don’t see that happening.

I anticipated that this mechanic would be exploited by someone but not too the scale to derrick suggested. There are probably a thousand better ways to balance it. If anyone wants to change it, that’s probably a good idea.

Card, everyone else would have 0 gummy bears and thus be ineligible. they’d be the only person qualifying for the prize.
