Proposal: Non-Threatening Behavior

Fewer than a quorum not voting against. Failed 2-7 by Kevan.

Adminned at 16 Apr 2021 11:39:37 UTC

In Behavioral Regulations, add “Innocent” as a new Type of action.

Insert a step at the beginning of the atomic action described in Nosy Researchers that reads:

For each Innocent action in the Behavior Log whose Location has the Monitored or Surveillance tag, decrement the associated AI’s Suspicion by 1.

To the “Datacenter” bullet point in “The Facility”, add:

If an AI is Focused on a Location with the Datacenter tag, they may Run Simulations as an Innocent action.

To the “Cyberspace” bullet point in “The Facility”, add:

If an AI is Focused on a Location with the Cyberspace tag, they may Watch Cat Videos as a Conspicuous action.

It’s about time we brought cat videos into the equation. I’m open to changing the name “Innocent” to something else.

I don’t think watching cat videos is innocent, based off what the AA said.

You’re right, I had to reread the AA and I tweaked the proposal.

Innocent actions seem overly grindy. In general, suspicion appears like its going to be this dynasties rate limit mechanics—you can’t go do a bunch of stuff because that increases the risk you get caught

But seems like there is little reason *not* to perform innocent actions. Especially if Kevan’s proposal preventing you from doing the same action multiple times doesn’t pass.

I see that you also voted against Tasks and Rec; do you think there should be any way for an AI to reduce their suspicion at all?

no? why would it? in neither case did I voice concerns about reducing suspicion in general. It just shouldn’t be done on the whim of the Facility Head, not should it be done in an easily spamable action.

I second that this is grindy.

@Clucky “no? why would it?” Why would what? I didn’t imply that you voiced anything, I just asked a question.

What are you saying “no” to here? I’m confused.

now that its out of the edit window against

I like the idea of innocent actions, but they should have some other cost associated with them to prevent spam and grind

against i think tasks and rec already fills this niche, unfortunately. tho i like the idea of adding a run simulations action, i’d certainly put that in tasks a lot :u

against Innocent actions are neat, but I agree with what’s been said here.

for I like innocent actions and think that they can be repurposed usefully.
