Proposal: Nymph State

Self-killed. Failed by Kevan.

Add to Anatomy as another bullet in its list:

Nymph: When an Organ morphs into Nymph state, it loses all Creatures it is attached to (its “Creature” column in the GNDT becomes “-” to reflect the vacancy). Nymphs have representation on the map as [N:xxx], with xxx being that Organ’s name. Nymphs, when they become such, have their location set to be the same location as the Creature they just lost. Nymphs, as a daily action, can move its location to a cell adjacent to its current location. The Nymph can ask to merge with another Creature which is on its same cell, by making a blog post to reflect this - this post is a Merge Request. Once 3 or more Organs that are part of the Creature the Merge Request is directed at state in a comment that they Welcome the Nymph, the Nymph becomes part of their Creature, and its state changes to Amorphous.

In Creatures, change “Each Organ is part of one Creature, which can be referred to as that Organ’s Creature.” to:

Each non-Nymph Organ is part of one Creature, which can be referred to as that Organ’s Creature. Nymphs are part of no creature.

Just in case individual creatures become voting blocs that leave people outside of it stranded, this leaves a way for people to attempt to break dominating blocs to make new ones with the incentive of their own “membership”, so that they can get back into the game. Would make gameplay more dynamic, plus its a cool mechanic on its own.

I was expecting single organ creatures to emerge but this has some rather enjoyable potential.

Also, note that a sufficiently large bloc can repeal this rule and still do nasty bloc stuff, but at least its something.

What happens when a Nymph changes states to something else and back? It would stop being tracked on the map?

From the rule, it looks like they stop being tracked on the map, lose the ability to move on their own, and can’t ask to join a creature.  So there’s no benefit to changing out of Nymph state, it only wastes nutrients since you have to change back to get anything done.

But if you change out of Nymph state and back in, where on the map are you?

I think it’d just be illegal for a Nymph to use the
“morph one of the following states” action. A Creatureless Nymph becoming a Creatureless Gut would be breaking the requirement that “Each non-Nymph Organ is part of one Creature”.

In case you’re wondering why I did this, it’s because I saw a potential scam, but like friggin always, I jumped the gun too soon and without thinking. I’ll repost the Nymph rules myself later (or feel free to do so yourself).
