[ Now that it turns out that our careers have already passed, we only care about the copyrights and royalties… ]

Replace “Investor” with “Studio” throughout the ruleset.

Maybe careers aren’t over, but if the rules have stretched as far as being able to claim the lead in Casablanca, “Investor” doesn’t really fit any more.

I hadn’t thought we were going to be so… realistic about it. Anybody’s thoughts on this part of our theme?

Has Doremi been on recently because, if e chose to be called the investor then this ruleset seems to be straying from what e had wanted.

I voted IMP because this can’t be my choice.

Grasshopper, I had envisioned this as an evolving narrative determined by the creativity of the players, i.e. the dynamics of it are modeled on real Hollywood, but the actual films, deals, etc. are made up.  Hence my proposal for creating a class of Agents.  I thought people could come up with script ideas, submit them to the Studio, get them greenlit, attract stars, film the production, distribute, spend money on advertising, attract audiences, etc., none of which would be based on real films, or even real stars.  But I haven’t been able to come up with a way to do this in the GNDT yet, mostly because I haven’t had time, but maybe it’s also just too complicated.

Eh, you can’t plan a Nomic, even if you’re the emperor.

I’m not completely against this, except that it be weird to have me be a studio. I guess I’d be a spokesperson. Having me as an investor though, gives an easy line of sight to a victory condition.

As far as the Filmography issue, being an extra in this movie, even an nth minor character would still require some connections.

And the flood of imperial s become against s, and the proposal is defeated by a landslide.

I just thought “Studio” was sufficiently generic to mean whichever spokesperson that was relevant; from Investor to Director to Shareholders to Copyright Department. And that “the Studio has voted to VETO it” had a nice ring to it. But it’s up to Doremi, of course.

I’m not so much anti-bandwagon as much as I am pro-Studio.

In earlier dynasties, we’ve had the “Radio” and “Computer”.
