Protosal: Out and About

Add a new Dynastic Rule named “The Manor” with the following text:

Within the Manner exists three floors. The first and second having multiple rooms, while the third is the Attic. As a daily action, each Guest may move their location to a different floor. In addition, each Guest’s location will be tracked in a column in the GNDT called “Floor.” “1st” indicates a location of the first floor. “2nd” indicates a location of the second floor. “3rd” indicates a location of the Attic. Each Guest may move to as many rooms as they wish on each floor. However, once entering the Attic, that Guest may leave to the second floor at any time, but may only re-enter the Attic at midnight the next day.

Add a sub-rule named “Rooms” with the following text:

On each floor there is a specific number of rooms. The Attic shall only contain one room. The first floor contains the Main Hallway, the Dining Room, Kitchen, and Parlor. The second floor contains the Master Bedroom, Study, Bathroom, Guest Bedroom, and Balcony. Each room is tracked in a column in the GNDT called “Room” which tracks each room by it’s respective title.. Once entering a room, that Guest shall update their status to reflect the change of location within the manner.

I tried to make the movement as loose as I could while still having some restrictions on movement; keep in mind this is just a Protosal, and is open for suggestion and criticism.

It could be simplified. Something like:

Within the Manor exists three floors. Each Guest is within a floor; this is tracked in the GNDT column “Location”. As a daily action, a Guest may move their location to any floor.

On each floor there is a specific number of rooms. The third floor contains exactly one room, the Attic. The first floor contains the Main Hallway, the Dining Room, Kitchen, and Parlor. The second floor contains the Master Bedroom, Study, Bathroom, Guest Bedroom, and Balcony. Each Guest is within a room; this is tracked in the GNDT column “Room”. At any time, any Guest may move to any room on the same floor.

Much better wording from Darth. And there’s probably not even any need to track the current floor in the GNDT, when it’s fairly clear from the room names which level they’re on.

We might need more rooms, to fit all 29 guests comfortably, but that can come later.

Some mechanics (yet to come) may require two or more Guests to be in the same room.  If this is the case, you would want to limit the number of Rooms so that people don’t get too spread out.

Some rooms on each floor can be adjacent to each other, with movement limited then the lights are off.

Also, we need a Basement- that’s where the fusebox is, so that the lights can be repaired and turned back on.

The first person to enter a particular room ought to (subject to Kevan’s right to re-write) be able to describe the room in more detail, to add flavor.

If the lights are off and movement is still permitted, then the GNDT statement about a given player’s location should be “last known location”.

against I support the idea of rooms, but would prefer it to work differently.

What Ienpw III said.

Also, we already have an “east wing” with bedrooms… let’s make use of the existing flavor.

I’ll take these points into consideration. Although someone else might want to make a revision of this, as I definitely don’t have time for this tonight, and I wouldn’t mind if someone else used the idea to make a better proposal.

And I can’t think of any obvious reason for an attic

We can’t not have an attic. There are so many possibilities.

against but yes we need an attic.
-I’ll tell you what we’ll do.
I’ll bring my bodies from the attic
and you get yours from the cellar…
and we’ll get them all together,
and we’ll send them to Happy Dale.
No, you wouldn’t have to dig.
The graves are all marked.
-We put flowers on them every Sunday.
-Flowers?
Sure, I put neon lights on mine.

We also need the basement because that’s where Teddy Brewster is digging the locks for the Panama Canal.
