In Rule 2.2, replace “Terrified, Asleep” with “Terrified, Arrested, Asleep” in both places where it appears.
To the first bulleted list in Rule 2.2, add:-
- If a Guest is Arrested, they cannot become anything other than Arrested.
To the list of actions in Rule 2.6, add:-
- Free a named Guest (known as the Target) that they share a room with. Upon taking this Action, if the Target is present in the same room as the Guest freeing them, if there are fewer than two non-Dormant Guests in that room (not including the Guest taking the freeing action), and if the Target is Restrained, the Target becomes Healthy.
Add a subrule to Rule 2.4, called “Arrest”:-
If a Guest becomes Arrested, they are removed from the house for police questioning. Their Location value becomes “Cell” (this is a valid Location, but does not count as a Room).
The police have only a limited amount of cells and patience. If four Guests have become Arrested during the course of the game, further Guests may not become Arrested.
If a rule “Deathly Quiet” exists, replace “if their Status is currently Dead” with “if their Status is currently Dead or Arrested”.
Straight reproposal of Loosening the Restraints, fixed so that you can only perform the Freeing action on Guests who are actually Restrained.

I think that he’s just being spiteful, on account of being dead.

No, I think that killing an Arrested could be fun. You know, quiet them before they talk.

That would actually be entirely possible, if the lights went out during a Crisis to arrest someone, and a murderer decided they want to intervene.

Yes, it’s possible beforehand.

It’s also possible afterwards with a Crisis of “kill the guy in the cell, this takes precedence over the rule restricting the change of status from Arrested to Dead”.
Being Arrested would be functionally identical to being Dead, though, at least for now - it seemed more polite and thematic than dinner party guests having to kill their suspect (although they can do that as well, if they like). I’m not sure why this is a reason to vote against, or why it’s less bloodthirsty than politely tying and untying people all game.

I can’t think of any tactical reason to kill someone who’s been arrested.
