Proposal: Sorry, Albert, the gods do play dice.

Timed Out and reached quorum. Passed 8-3. Enacted by Chivalrybean

Rewrite the rule “Aesir”, together with its subrule “List of Gods”, so that it reads as follows:

The Aesir
While each Valkyrie supports the Allfather above all other gods, if a Valkyrie is currently supporting “None”, e may choose to support an additional god buy updating eir section of the GNDT in the column marked “Supported God” to any of the gods listed in the subrule titled “List of Gods”. Each god has a statistic for every Einherjar statistic besides tinkering. During skirmishes, the relevant statistics of the god whom the Valkyrie is currently supporting are calculated by the Allfather (separately for each Valkyrie for whom adjustments are required under this rule), and added or subtracted, as appropriate, to the relevant statistics for each of eir Einherjar—this is allowed to push the value of a statistic over +10 or below -10 for the purposes of that skirmish.

By default, all Valkyries support “None”. As weekly action, a Valkyrie may change eir support of a god back to “None”. E may then support a different god as outlined in the above paragraph.

[edit] List of Gods
None: Provides no statistical benefits or hindrances.

against Too much of a pain on Hix. Even if Hix is willing to do it, I dislike the randomness.

I like the randomness.  Where’s the suspense in “highest stat wins, period”?  Let Hix decide if it’s too much of a pain on him.

imperial I want more chance, and this could work, but not sure if hix wants to do that much with the dice

What if instead of rolling one stat, Hix rolled three and you used all three? That way, there would be many many different results in possible outcomes, but it really wouldn’t be that much more work on Hix.

Clucky- I’m afraid that I don’t follow.  Can you provide a hypothetical example so I can understand what you’re talking about?

Right now, Hix rolls a D7. He then picks that category and everyone uses their stats from that category.

What if instead he rolled 3D7s, and got a 1 4 4. We would use Wit + Moxie + Moxie for each Einherjar, instead of just the single stat used before.

This dice-rolling seems okay to me, if I understand it right:  I don’t have to _actually_ make rolls that don’t matter.  For the most part, I’ll only have to make 1 roll per Valkyrie, when their supported god has a modifier for the challenged statistic (and that single result applies to each Einherjar she owns).  And I’d occasionally have to make rolls sometimes for other stats, for example because of Siddhartha’s Mysticism-swapping ability.
for I appreciate that it is boring to be able to calculate in advance who will win each type of Skirmish.  This provides a reasonable amount of swing to each Valkyrie’s Skirmish Rating.  (For anyone who is agog at the math, the average amount of stat change the DICE calculations will cause is exactly the same as the current amount of stat change)

Clucky’s ideas is also interesting, but would require lots of terminology changes in the ruleset, and in the wording of some of the special attributes.
