Proposal: Surge Pricing

Reached quorum 5 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

Add a new Supply to “Supplies”:-

  • Money

Add a new rule, “Victory”:-

When a Crate is discarded, if a single Resident has five slots each containing one Money Supply, then that Resident alone has bought their way out of the city, concealed on a delivery truck, and has achieved victory.

If “Graveyard Slot” passed, replace “has five slots each containing one Money Supply” with “is carrying five Money Supplies” in the rule created above.

Time to float a victory condition?

there isn’t a way to lower other people’s high alertness yet aside from hitting them with crowbars until they’re knocked out (which would take 8 crates to do at least). This makes victory decided via high alertness with no chance for lower alertness people to get money unless everyone above them decided to not take it. I should think that everyone should have some chance to win, not an equal one though.

A bit too soon and not particularly interesting.

We’re just 10 days in the dynasty. Still early enough to propose significant changes to the game to make it cooler, so I have faith.

There’s also the Airhorn (and the Nailed Board pending), and you don’t need to knock them all the way down to 0 Health, you just have to knock them off the top spot. A player at the top will have to choose between grabbing the Money while they can, grabbing weapons to stop slower players from arming themselves, and grabbing food and drink to stop slower players catching up.

Up to you all as players, though, and I should go DEF on this one: imperial

(Just to note that if this is proposed like, 10-15 days from now, I’ll very likely vote greentick for it.)

against This dynasty has been very proposal-active (at least from my short experience) and I’d like to see how far that goes (crafting for example) before we start killing it.

Huh. I’d always thought the ideal was to get a scamproof victory condition into the game very early on (maybe even with a “no victory until date X” clause), so that players know what they’re working towards, rather than having to dance around covering all the bases and trying not to get stuck with a pile of Fool’s Gold when the time finally comes to pick a win condition and nobody else cares that you’ve stockpiled all those Lockbox Keys.

(Weren’t you regarding the early game as mere “frills” to influence the victory condition vote, recently, Cuddlebeam? Isn’t it better to get beyond that and into no-frills high-stakes gameplay as soon as possible?)

We’re normally nervous about early victory conditions because they almost invariably get scammed, but I’d have thought the end of the first act would be okay, and fair Nomic play if someone can scam up five Money immediately in a way that nobody else spotted.

Of course, I can’t guarantee I haven’t missed a scam here, so watch your step.

But on the current numbers of possible Supplies (assuming “building stuff” enacts), it’s going to take an average of 17 Crates to even put 5 Money into the game universe, let alone into the hands of a single player, so this seems fairly safe for now.

Well, OK. If anyone wants to Trusting the dosh all into a dicerolled person, I’m up.

@Kevan: Yep, entirely true, but I wanted to make a bigger/meatier game than winning it just yet. Like, right now, the best seems to just be part of the biggest alliance (outside of scams).

...Which is pretty much nearly every dynasty admittedly, but oh well.

Just for more pointers as to why pooling up money and dicerolling is good right now:

All alone and in the best situation, you’re going to get all of that money in 5 Crates at the soonest.

An alliance can get that money a lot sooner. Sure, each individual in the group will have less of chance of win, but they’ll win before anyone solitary could - they can just collect Money quicker. Practically making that solo person’s win chance zero, because they’ll never cash in their prize because they’ll always be too late.
