Proposal: Swords and Grammar

reached quorum, passed 12-1, enacted by aaronwinborn

Adminned at 29 Oct 2007 18:03:01 UTC

Title says it all.  Here are the swords:

In the rule Items, add a subrule Swords

As a weekly action, assuming it’s currently daytime, the swordsmith may make a single sword for his own possession, if the swordsmith has held the swordsmith occupation for at least a full week.

Having a sword gives the villager who possesses it a limited version of the Military ability, so if they are ever attacked by the Werewolves, the Mayor rolls 1DICE20. On a result of 10-20 the target continues as normal. On a result of 4-9 the villager escapes, but no further actions are required, and the targets of all werewolves are change to no one. On a result of 1-3 the villager escapes with a clue as to the identity of the werewolves. This clue consists of a single letter which is in the name of one of the werewolves.

And the grammar:

In the rule Hair, change the text

The status of having a Hairy Back shall not be tracked in the GNDT

to

The status of having a Hairy Back shall not be tracked in the GNDT.

Just adding a period where there should be one with the grammar.

And, I quote Rule 1.1:

“Admins may correct obvious spelling and typographical mistakes in the Ruleset at any time.”

The obvious typo has been corrected.  Now, if this proposal passes, the sentence will end with two periods—which will be an obvious typo that can be immediately corrected.

Speaking of grammar, “are change to no one” is missing a d.

to the extent that it might override proposal “...out of my head”, which might pass

Please, if you are voting, pay more attention to the swords than the grammar.

To spikebrennan: Read Hix’s comment.

Hix: Here’s a weird point. The proposal doesn’t say to add a period, it says to replace one string of text with another. It can’t be replaced if it isn’t there, so that clause would have no effect.

I think.

Rodlen- my point is orthogonal to Hix’s.

COV, given that the “Grammar” part of the proposal will now have no effect at all, given the passage of a different proposal that amended that rule.

Rules question: Does the mayor count as missing if they are dead?
