Proposal: The Annual Farmers’ Market

Times out and fails 3-6. -coppro

Adminned at 25 Jun 2011 13:40:39 UTC

Add a new entry to the Gardening Compendium, “Prize Pumpkin”:

Name: Prize Pumpkin ($)
Sun Cost: 100
Offence: 0
Defence: 0
Shade Requirement: 4
Effect: If a Prize Pumpkin is ever on a Square with Shade unequal to 4, it is destroyed. Whenever a Prize Pumpkin is destroyed, its Planter’s Defeated is set to 1. If a single Farmer has continually been the only Farmer with a Prize Pumpkin on their Plot for 96 hours, they have achieved victory.

Add to “Planting”:

Only Farmers with a Defeated value of 0 may plant Prize Pumpkins.

This might speed up the gameplay somewhat.

against Whoever is willing to login every 12 hours will stick one of these behind a shed and use moonshines every 12 hours as necessary on any bombies that show up.  It’s not hard to defend a Pumpkin nor even especially expensive.

Spending 50 Juice per bombie isn’t really a sustainable strategy, though. Plus, it doesn’t get you anywhere closer to eliminating the others.

The idea behind this is that it encourages us to become proactive, rather than sitting behind a wall of cabbages and spare resources waiting for our rivals to be eliminated. Currently, any offensive action from any single Farmer’s part weakens their own position and therefore only makes sense if they think they can eliminate all their rivals.

As easy as it may be to defend a single square, it requires a much different approach from defending your house (which I think is probably much easier).

for I love the idea. Though we need zombies with spotlights, then, to attack those Pumpkins. :-)

Purplebeard: You only need to spend 50 juice once per 12 hours, not once per bombie.  So, 350 juice total (plus cost of any needed tools).  In many cases you can use Potatos and the like instead.

That only works if you’re the only one to plant a Prize Pumpkin. If there are several contenders, they would each have to spend 50 juice per 12 hours to sustain that strategy until the others run out, at which point new Farmers can join the race with a lot more sun/juice in the bank.
