Proposal: This Institution Sucks

Add a new Institution called “Syphon Station” and give it the following text:

When specifying Directions to the Net, a Player to make their Syphon Target. When a Player influences the Syphon Station, if they nominated a Syphon Target the Syphon Target loses two Power (to a minimum of zero) and then the Player who influenced the Syphon Station gains Power lost. (Note that if the Syphon Target only loses one power, the influencer only gains one power).

As much as anything else I’m concerned that is’s already hard enough to get into a position where someone can win. This is always going to target the leader, and as it’s unblockable will result in munchkin-esque stagnation.

You’ll still be up +3 if you get the mine though, or could go for this and push whoever is getting close back.

It won’t result in muchkin-esque stagnation because the dynasty has a set it. It might result in more “win because someone else was a bigger target and got beat down” but we’re already doing that with the mob and you could argue that adds more strategy…

I’m all for making things harder for rich people - but not by targeting. It should be harder by mechanics, not attacks.

Mob targets Marines, not VPs directly. There is a defence against the mob (“don’t horde marines”) - nothing that helps with this though, which is problematic.
