Proposal: Tides

Self-killed. Failed by Kevan.

Adminned at 09 Mar 2017 09:44:12 UTC

Add to the rules a section titled “The Tides”
Under it add

As a daily communal action the following atomic actions may be taken:
1. Do a DICE4 roll and subtract one from the result.
2. Do another DICE4 roll for the direction. 1 = North, 2 = East, 3 = South and 4 = West
3. If the Creature is near and edge of the Habitat, repeat from step 1 if the direction points to it’s own edge.
4. Move the Creature the number of squares from the result in step 1 in the direction from step 2. If any locations that the Creature would move to are named Foggy Location, change their name to Currentswept Sand before moving the Creature to that location.

It is the ocean afterall

note: the statolith is inconsistently spelled. Is there a reason this is not a daily communal action, or do you feel that viv needs something to do?

Note: I guess there’s no harm in it.

against too heavy of an RNG swing imo

against agreed, I’d like some slow, methodical exploration.

What if it was just one square?

against If we discover the square using our eye, we get a terrain feature.  This loses us future features.

How terain features are added can always change.

Sand does often cover features.

against Daily random drift would greatly overwhelm any efforts our Limbs might have gone to to get us anywhere.

I’m not opposed to tides, but I think our fellow players will add a good deal of random movement. Now, a small amount of random movement isn’t a bad thing. Say, once a week or a single square 50% of the time.

A smaller amount or less frequent change would be better
