Declaration of Victory: Timeline Manipulated - Victory Declared

All hail our new leader!—Excalabur

Adminned at 26 Aug 2006 09:02:29 UTC

I have exactly 7 node events with my name as a keyword and therefore I have achieved victory according to rule 2.5.3.

“If a Traveller’s name ever appears as the keyword for exactly seven separate Node Events, then they have shown their worth in manipulating the Timeline (or have saved the world, or destroyed it) and have achieved victory.”

For the record, those Node Events were the events at…

-4003/1/1
1440/11/26
1475/6/8
1475/6/9
1526/1/21
1666/6/11
1893/6/8

Ah, I’ve been waiting all day for this.

Just so we don’t forget:  Rule 1.5 gets altered when Rule 2.7 is repealed (upon ascension, say).

Perfect timing.

for Looks good to me.

For the record, Thelonious’ Tidy Up proposal would have meant he could keep Hix from vetoing any local proposals or messing with his Node Events with a well-placed Heisenberg Loop.

Why do you say that would be a consequence of Thelonious’s Proposal?  It’s already a consequence of the subrules to “Temporal Uncertainty” that aran proposed.

Note that on a Declaration of Victory, DERERENTIAL “votes” don’t do anything; nor is the poster’s vote automatically considered to be FOR.

Hix - yeah, I’ve been waiting all day too.  I couldn’t do it until 24 hours after my last node event addition.

I suspected you knew it was coming and also that you wouldn’t say anything.  I thought it was game over when Elias posted his warning.  However, I’m fairly sure it would have taken coordination of at least 2 travellers to be able to peg me back a couple.  (3 travellers could have completely reset me.)  As the day wore on, it seemed less and less likely that the necessary co-ordination would form in time.

Bucky, for the record, I genuinely believed (and still believe) that my Tidy Up proposal had no effect on the meaning of the rule.  The only gamesmanship there was that I wanted to create a little bit of clutter on the front page in the hope that it would mask Elias’ warning post.  I certainly didn’t want the warning to be sat around as the top post for 6 hours before I could create my last node event.

Oh, thanks for the tip that I need to vote on this if I want it to count.

Finally, assuming this passes, it’s a bank holiday weekend here in the UK and I may not have internet access until Tuesday.

So, then, was the accidental non-proposal post not really an accident?

Cavaliere - the accidental non-proposal post really was an accident.  But having realised what had happened, I wasn’t at all sad!

Thelonious:

26-08-2006 10:27:00 UTC

So, it’s been more than 12 hours, the arbiter has voted, a quorum of travellers have voted and more than half of those votes (all in fact) were in favour.

Unlike proposals, DoVs don’t seem to be enacted by admins.  Rather, it looks like I simple declare it resolved (passed) - which I hereby do.

So, the First Dynasty of Thelonious begins.

I suspect at this point, by convention, we usually save off various things related to the last dynasty.  However, I don’t know what those things are or how to do it.  Could some kind person please do the necessary - and post in this thread to let me know they’ve done it.

I hope to prepare my Ascension Address later today.

I’ve backed up the GNDT log to “blog.log.hix” on the server, I’ll archive the ruleset in the wiki momentarily, and send out an Ascension Alert.

I think that’s all. Kudos on the victory.

And ah, you’d already done the wiki, fair enough.
