In rule 2.1.1.2 The Night Watchman, change the text:

A Villager may only become the Night Watchman as a result of a Town Meeting.

with

A villager may only become the night watchman as a result of a special Town Meeting. To post this special town meeting, the title of the post must include the text “Watchman Selection”. In this town meeting, villagers may comment that they with to become the night watchman, but shall not cast a vote publicly. After the special town meeting is posted, villagers have 24 hours to comment their desire to become the night watchman. After that, villagers have the next 24 hours to vote secretly by sending an email message to the Mayor including the text Watchman vote = [villager name]. Once all votes are counted, if there is a winner, the mayor shall cast a FOR vote, and the winning villager will become the night watchman. If there is no clear winner, the Mayor shall Veto the special town meeting and no night watchman will be appointed at that time.

The night watchmans identity shall be kept secret and shall not be tracked in the GNDT as a normal occupation would be.

against Overcomplicated; it might as well be randomly assigned, and it’s confusing to have it being an Occupation that isn’t an Occupation (particularly when 2.1.1 says “Each Villager has a single Occupation”).

Unless we make the Town Watchman not be an occupation… then this could be done a lot simpler with an idea I just had.

Maybe time to bring back the Mystic? It’d be helpful if we had two distinct and obvious classes of “Known Public Occupation” and “Secret Skill or Magical Ability”.
