If the proposal “Even educated fleas do it” passed:
Add to the rule Egg Clusters:

Any organ that is the parent of an egg cluster in the “mature” state may birth that egg cluster, transforming it from an egg cluster into a medusa by performing the following as an atomic action:
- Add an ‘M’ to the beginning of the number used to track the location of the egg cluster in the Habitat.
- Give the medusa a name in the Habitat in the following format: the first three letters of the mothers name, followed by one letter each chosen from the name of each of the egg cluster’s fathers, followed by the number of that egg cluster.

Add to the list of neighbors in the rule Neighbors:

- Medusa - Represented by ‘M’ followed by a number.

In the rule Neighbors, replace

Big Grumpers and Eels are mobile.

with

Big Grumpers, Eels, and Medusas are mobile.

Is the name of the Medusa M followed by a number, or some weird combination of the mother and fathers’ names plus M followed by a number?  There seem to be two contradictory rules here.

The reason I did it this way is to make sure it matches up with how egg clusters are tracked in the Habitat. The Egg Clusters rule specifies some information to be tracked for each egg cluster, including its number. But since there are no egg clusters yet, it’s sort of unclear exactly what that tracking will look like. For example, it’s number might be placed on the map, but the other information, like state, could be tracked on the map or above it, like the moods. This rule adds a “Name” field, but also preserves the number (adding “M” to it) just in case the way these actually get implemented in the map is ambiguous.

Right, but then you say they’re just tracked with M plus number.

Besides, if all the egg clusters have unique numbers than so will all Medusas.  You don’t need to mash anyone’s name together.

That is correct. They have names because I think that’s cool, not because they need a unique identifier.
