Proposal: Your Circuit’s Dead, There’s Something Wrong

Reached quorum 12 votes to 0. Enacted by Kevan.

Adminned at 03 Apr 2011 00:13:58 UTC

In Rule 2.6 (Oddities), replace “The only Proposals that may add a new Oddity to a Station are Odd Proposals.” with:-

Oddities may be created or amended by Odd Proposals.

And remove “Odd Proposals can be enacted only when their author is not in the related Station.”

Just a couple of fixes; removing the enactment restriction, which could be problematic if a player is unable or unwilling to move on from a station, and allowing regular proposals to add and amend Oddities if they wish to.

I’m up for the queue thing, but the Odd Props are made to be needed to create Oddities. Amending and deleting may be achieved by normal Proposals and CfJs.

Ah, wasn’t sure how much that was your intention. It bothered me that “add a new Oddity” could be taken as also covering “change an old Oddity in a different, new one”, which could stop us from fixing a bug in a Station, if nobody was actually there. And I suppose it also prevents us from introducing sweeping “all Stations with the word ‘Saint’ in them have this Oddity” proposals.

I’ll see where the vote goes, but sorry for describing this as a “fix” when it wasn’t.

imperial The original can lead to a player holding up the game indefinitely if they go make an Odd Prop then don’t move away - the rules on enactment don’t allow for proposals that can’t be enacted to be failed, so it’d be up to Kevan to veto things to keep them moving. That’s an annoyance, but on the other hand, I do like that only Odd Props can create oddities. So… hum.

imperial I’m not an amazing fan of introducing new mechanics that could be done just as easily as regular proposals, but don’t see any reason to vote against this one either.
