Proposal: Zombies can attack

In the rule “Planting”, change

Each type of Seed must have at least a Name, Initial, Sun Cost, and Shade Requirement.

to

Each type of Seed must have at least a Name, Initial, Sun Cost, Defense, and Shade Requirement.

Set the Defense of all Seeds to 2.

Add a new subrule to “The Dead” titled “Attacking” :

A Zombie Attacking a Plant is defined as follows:
- Roll 1DICEY X times, where Y is the Defense of the Plant and X is the Life of the Zombie. 
- If any of those rolls are less than or equal to the attack value of the zombie, the plant is destroyed.
- Otherwise, the zombie is destroyed.

 

Tracking health of plants and zombies will be a hassle.  Let’s skip it :) Of course, adding zombies which change into other zombies instead of being destroyed when defeated…

Although I like the idea, the two main problems I can see so far are that the defense value of a square should actually do something, and this could be a lot of dice rolling if there’s a lot of zombies.  imperial

against I think we should stick to using the defense values for the squares.  Too many different defence values can get confusing very quickly.

Yoda: This is basically just ignoring defense values for squares completely in favor of going be defense values of seeds.  Seems like a wash as far as complexity goes.

I agree with aguy on that, Defence for crops is better than defence for squares, in my opinion.
