If the proposal “Reperpousing of Resources” failed, add a new rule, “Robots”:-
A Contractor may, at any time, replace 1 of their Robots with 1 of any other Resource.
Per comments on Reperpousing of Resources, suggesting Robots as (single use) wildcards.
Robots feels like the wrong wildcard though. How do you turn automated factories into biologists? If I had to pick a wild card it would either be colonists or infrastructure. You can train the colonists to be other things or you can dedicate the infrastructure to supporting the resource type you want.
You dedicate your automated factory to biological research. Or you program your robot arm to perform surgery.
Colonists would also work, although I’m not sure if turning Colonists into Robots is more or less plausible than turning Robots into Colonists.
I like the flavor of naught’s proposal but I wouldn’t mind something like 3 different resources for 1 of any resource
BlogNomic is an online Nomic: a self-modifying game where changing the rules is part of the game. Players make blog posts proposing additions or alterations to the ruleset, discussing and casting votes in the comments: if enough vote in favour, the rules are changed and play continues.
