Timed out, 1-5. Failed by JonathanDark.

Add the following rows to the table of Tracts in the rule Estates:

Caretaker’s Hut | This estate gains 1 Prestige.
Markets | The Palatine of this estate may pay two of a given resource to earn one of a different resource.
Poorhouse | The Palatine of this estate gains 6 Reputation, and this estate loses 3 Prestige.

If the rule Assassination exists, add the following row to the table of Tracts in the rule Estates:

Gardens | The Palatine of this estate may reduce their stress by up to 4.

I like the idea in theory, but the ruleset needs to be patched up a bit to allow Poorhouse to exist because right now someone can use it to almost certainly infinite loop by building a poorhouse in their empty estate, running it for 6 reputation, and nominate a successor.

The vast majority of the time, your successor will be distant which will clear your estate that you just net 2 reputation off of (6 from the poor house, -4 from the cost of resetting)

Sometimes you’ll get a Offspring, but that is rare enough that your overall expected value gain is still pretty large (simulated 500 generations and tended to watch my reputation grow by around 650-850)

How does that work in practice, though? Regardless of nominating a successor, the Palatine of an estate can only execute its function as a weekly action, and the dynasty isn’t going to run for infinite weeks. An Heir might be able to do this 3-4 times during this dynasty, so a net 8 Reputation gain at worst, I think.

My understanding of the current rules is that the each estate can be run once per week. So you get a fresh estate, you can run it again, then immediately name a successor, then probably lose your estate, so repeat the process

We can make it so that you can only run your estate(s) once per week and gotta do them all at the same time. Or make it so you can only name a successor once per week. But until we do one of those, the infinite reputation glitch will remain

That is actually going to be handled in Kevan’s “What News” proposal, but I’m happy to repropose once that’s in.
