In the rule Location, to the end of the paragraph that begins “Each Location has an Action that Villagers in that location are permitted to perform”, add:

No Villager may undertake the Action associated with a Location if that Location is draughty.

Add the following as the Action for the Makeshift Tent:

A Villager may spend the Action Cost to start or join a Search here; this location is considered to be Outside for the purposes of the first bullet point of the Ending Action atomic action for the Search event.

Give that Action a cost of 10.

Set the Search Multiplier for the Makeshift Tent to be as follows:
Broken 3x, Metal 1x, Bulky 0x, Fabric 2x, Organic 1x, Electronic 1x

Is it intentional that the tent has no action cost?

No - thank you - fixed.

If I had to pick a single indoor location to have a small chance of containing some Meat, I would have chosen a different one.

Just for the awareness of people voting: The tent can’t be used for searching due to the cost not stating which resource it costs in its action cost. (Also debatably it costs the action cost twice since all location actions already implicitly need you to pay, and this one explicitly has you also pay as part of the action.)

The Tent can be used for searching by someone who wants to argue that “10” means “10 Time”.

I’m not seeing the need to give Brendan and Josh the option to search without spending Heat, here.

I’m not sure how that would be supported by the ruleset? Surely the same argument would let you spend 10 of anything you have, since nowhere calls out that a number on its own means time. You could spend 10 from your tell, even.

Either way though, I might as well go against  because it’s broken as written.

We barrel through small ambiguities all the time, where the performer is confident about how a majority would read it.

I’d say that a DoV made as a result of assuming the cost to be Time (because the Pork Shed costs 10 Time and the rule used to say “spend that Cost in Time”) would have a fair chance of convincing a quorum. Although less so now that the ambiguity has been pointed out in advance.

CoV for again, due to a fix now existing.

I think indoor searches have potential for the final act, but I don’t think that introducing them in a single Location defended by two Cudgel-wielding players, one of them with 60 Time stockpiled, is a particularly fair way to do that.

It has a 3/8 chance of finding nothing, suffers badly from the tragedy of the commons, and has a minimal chance of finding heat-restoring objects (especially when you can’t use branches indoors).

I don’t see holding the room as being as big an advantage as a player would have if they had a thermos or jacket when searching in the woods (which would give a 16/21 chance of getting more heat out than they put into it).

Finding nothing indoors doesn’t have much downside: you lose no Heat, and can modify the Tent’s few Search Multipliers towards whatever it is you most want to find when you try again the next day. And we’re moving towards a victory condition that will likely care a lot about which items players have found.
