Proposal: Day of the Triffles

Failed 2-10, timed out after 48 hours. Failed by Angry Grasshopper.

Add the following text to rule 1.3:

Any Gostak may make a trivial proposal to fix minor issues in the ruleset. A trivial proposal is treated in the same way as regular proposal except for the following exceptions:
-It only takes three FOR votes to pass a trivial proposal.
-If any Gostak votes against a trivial proposal, it becomes a regular proposal.
-Trivial proposals must be signified by having the word “trivial” at the end of their title enclosed in square brackets.
-Trivial proposals do not count against the number of proposals a Gostak may have pending.

If more than half of all comments containing counted votes also contain the text “Quorom Z”, where Z is a positive integer, replace the word three in the proposed changes with the number Z. If more than half of all comments containing counted votes also contain the text “Make ‘em count”, add the following text to Rule 1.3:

-A Gostak may have no more than two trivial proposals pending at any time.

Quorom 4
Quorom 5
Quorom 6
Quorom 12
against , and Make ‘em count, too.

I don’t really want anyone to be able to make 3 proposals per day, even when the proposal queue is running slow.  For this meta-dynasty, I like the idea of having trivial proposals which only require 4-6 (unanimous) votes, but I think it would be better for them to be implemented in the Rules (not the Laws).

Excellent idea, though the execution is not so good. A cabal only needs two members to vote and then they can pass any proposal.

Bringing back trivial proposals, though, with some lesser restriction (if we trust everyone to be honest) is an idea that I really like.

I just don’t really like the idea.

for Quorum 6.

Make ‘em count.

What can I say? I like it.

Angry Grasshopper:

Elias IX, the idea is good, but if Rodney and Quazie and I get together, we can pass whatever wacky proposal we want by marking it trivial and then enacting it. ;)

It takes forty-eight hours to pass.

Can you stop other people from voting for 48 hours?

against Proposals only time out after 48 hours - if they reach quorum before then, they still pass. And presumably “It only takes three FOR votes to pass a trivial proposal.” is intended to overrule quorum.

Elias IX:

That’s why I changed my preferred quorum to six, although a better one might be one-third of all Gostaks, with some special rounding rules to make it look official.
