Proposal: Digital Rites Management

Fails at 2-9. -Purplebeard

Adminned at 07 Sep 2013 02:00:00 UTC

To the first paragraph of the rule “Spells”, add

A Spells tracked in an Apprentice’s section of the Spellbook wiki page are considered to be Known by that Apprentice.

In that rule, replace “An Apprentice may Cast a Spell by spending its Cost” with:-

An Apprentice may Cast a Spell they Know by spending its Cost

Add a new paragraph to that rule:-

An Apprentice may Crib a Spell cast by any other Apprentice in the previous 72 hours. When an Apprentice Cribs a Spell, they must add it to their section of the “Spellbook” wiki page with a name of their choosing, describing the Spell’s Effects and Cost.

Restricting casting to the spells that Apprentices have personally studied, but allowing them to copy down other spells that they observe being cast.

Hmm, I like the copying mechanic itself, but I am unsure if it should be entirely free…

Maybe make it so that we can only do a few actions per day, so you have to decide whether you copy a spell, craft your own, cast a spell, etc… Just thinking

Under the current ruleset, Apprentices are free to cast Spells from other people’s Spellbooks. This proposal is a restriction.

Yeah, that is out of question, I’m just thinking about the second part

imperial I like the whole shared spellbook thing, but the Cribbing would work too.

How about when cribbed, the spell retains a marker indicating that the first use of the spell has half strength effects instead of full strength, to represent a learning curve in learning the spell?

against Perhaps to Crib a spell, you have to pay its cost?

Then what would be the point? Unless I misunderstand it, that would be the same as you crafting it yourself.

Purplebeard:

against CoV since it’s so unpopular. I’ll propose an alternative solution shortly.
