Proposal: Favorable Promises

Self-killed. Failed by card.

Change “the first Promise created has a number of 1, and the second one 2, and the third one 3, etc, with all Promise numbers following that pattern. the first Promise created for a specific Pactmaker has a number of 1, and the second one 2, and the third one 3, etc, with all Promise numbers for that Pactmaker following that pattern. Pactmakers should not break their own Promise/s, and for greater clarity, Promises don’t “bind” anyone except the Pactmaker which made the Promise. All Promises (along with who they belong to) are tracked on the “Pact Magic” wikipage, separated into sections for each Pactmaker.

Add to “Mana”

-[X] Make a Promise that does something favorable to another Pactmaker each weekday in which that promise was made. X is the number of that Promise.

Even if “favorable to another Pactmaker” required some gamestate change rather than a nice compliment or something, it’d still be possible to make the same Promise multiple times and gain large amounts of Mana, wouldn’t it?

You’d be burdened down by having to do the same thing again next week.

Ah, I misread what you were going for with “each weekday” there.

I might add a condition that the “favorability” of a Promise needs to be decided by the Promisee not the Pactmaker or any other party. Also, “each weekday in which that promise was made” means once a week or every day?

Each promise is made on one day of the week, so promise #1 can’t be made on monday and also made on tuesday. If I make a promise right now for this rule, I would have to repeat the favorable thing each Thursday. The “favorability” is deserving of it’s own proposal

The burden thing doesn’t seem big enough to counter an active player abusing this.

against CoV. Isn’t this infinite Mana as long as I remember to do the tiniest epsilon of favor for someone every week?

against I like the idea, but:

- It needs a more precise definition than just “something favourable to another Pactmaker”, especially for the two reasons that (1) non-gamestate stuff can be favourable, as Kevan pointed out, and (2) there is nothing in the rules that states it’s actually favourable to, e.g., own more Mana;

- The wording “a Promise that does something favorable to another Pactmaker…” is extremely ambiguous. Presumably, you meant “a Promise that commits the Promise-maker to do something favourable…”.

- Promises can be made at-will. In particular, it is possible to make the same Promise several times. If today (friday), I make 6 Promises to give Card 1 Mana every friday, those Promises will be numbered from 1 to 6 (or even bigger numbers if I have made other Promises previously); and on every friday, if I transfer just 1 Mana to Card, I will earn:
1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 = 21 Mana

against I didn’t think of that last point.
