Add a new rule to the ruleset, called The Prod:

If the Queue has not changed in the preceding 24 hours, and the player at the front of the Queue is in the BlogNomic Discord, then any Guardian may make a post to the #current-dynasty channel of the Discord, naming the Guardian whose name is at the front of the Queue and reminding them to take their turn. The first Guardian to do so between each change to the Queue may award themselves 1 Livestock.

We seem to have slipped into an uneasy default by which we let each other time out; here’s an incentive to both take your turn quickly and remind each other when turns are slipping.

I don’t like this, it forces people to have Discord and also makes simply being in a certain time zone advantageous

@lendun Not necessarily, since it only kicks in if the player whose turn it is takes over a day to actually take their turn. Ideally, this will make all turns happen in < 24 hours, so the benefit of being on discord or in a specific timezone are more or less nonexistant (in theory).

It being 24 exact hours will mean that whoever took the previous turn will probably be around again at that point, to post the reminder. Some timezones will involve more of a scrabble than others, though.

Have changed it to 18 to make it more of a staggered point.

I thought 24 hours seemed fair enough! 18 hours creates a weak incentive to delay any given turn until after lunch, so that you might be awake at livestock o’clock.

Changed it back; didn’t love 18h to be honest

for Notifying people should just be common courtesy anyways, and I’m not sure if I would want to reward doing this. Admittedly a rather small change, though.

[Trapdoor] We’re a polite bunch, but we’re also playing to win: if failing to notify a rival might mean that they time out and miss their turn entirely, making no progress that round, it’s tempting to do so. (Ironically if there was no timeout at all, the game might actually run faster.)
