Proposal: Ideological Purity

Timed out 3 votes to 0 with 1 unresolved DEF. Enacted by Kevan.

To “Ideologies”, add:-

A Demiurge may destroy an Ideology they own at any time; upon doing so, all Demiurges with that Ideology as their Allegiance have it set to None.

It’s flavour text, and two of us have made mistakes while writing them - SingularByte forgot to specify new player terms, and I’ve just gotten the current dynasty’s emperor/player terms the wrong way around.

my preferred implementation for changing the body of an ideology would be a proposal that only followers of that ideology can vote on (with the owner of an ideology being able to change it at any time if it has no other followers)

since you can’t unfollow an ideology, I’d like to prevent bait and switch tactics if possible

Alright, I’ve changed it from editing to destruction.

allowing people to destroy ideologies would undermine the “become a demon at the cost of not being able to choose your own dynasty” thing I was going for

if people don’t want stuff like that, this is fine, but imo I would just go with the voting mechanic I mentioned before, no destruction

No undermining intended. I missed a week of play, but catching up on the ruleset I’m not seeing any connection between Demons and Ideologies, or any way to become a Demon.

I’m not sure it does undermine it to be honest. Humans are still picking their own destiny since they’re not compelled into any form of action here. In fact, they’ll be more than free than ever since at the moment you’re just locked into the first one you pick.

If the demon transformation is added as intended, demons still could lose their ideology in a more permanent way too, given that they can’t immediately turn round and recreate it like humans can.

[Kevan] At the moment, Demons aren’t fully implemented. Lendunistus’ intent to my understanding is that demons become more powerful but lose their own ideology and their ability to make their own ideology and have to follow someone else’s.

(This is reinforced by “If they aren’t already the owner of an existing Ideology, a Human Demiurge may Conceive an Ideology” which prevents demons from making an ideology, but the other stuff is just from mentions in discord, not hard rules that have gone through the proposal process).
