Proposal: Jetlag

If “Locating Artifacts” does not begin with the words “If no Individual has changed Location in the past 24 hours”, then replace its first word with “If no Individual has changed Location in the past 24 hours and if”.

To the second paragraph of “Researchers and Collectors”, add:-

Whenever an Individual Travels to or from a Public Place, they must gain 1 Soul Damage.

Per my comment on Floodgate, it might be more interesting to give a small Damage cost to Travel, than to make 12:01am the prime time for Artefact Recovery and an advantage for players awake at that hour. I’m going with the idea that Soul Damage means general exhaustion. (If Wreck Over passes, this allows two free moves per week.)

Might be worth changing the emoji for Soul Damage to ? if that feels like the direction it’s going in (and if more players can see that symbol than can see ?).

I didn’t want to overload this by suggesting anything specific, I might try something when the queue clears, if nobody else does. “Gain 1 of a bad thing which we’ll define later” is still a meaningful penalty, anyway.

I think Soul probably has more mileage within the genre (that a terrifying Artefact would have a similar effect to lots of jetlag), so long as we all have the same general idea of what it means.

We do already have a mechanic where the less successful Collectors accrue Soul Damage, which I’m reading as a kind of desperate, jealous insomnia or depression. I’m not sure it fits as well to the concept of physical Stamina.
