Proposal: Less Firewood

Change the Cost of the “Create” Power, or the “NEW (Create)” Power, whichever exists, to 8.

Change the Cost of the “SAC (Sacrifice)” Power to -4.

They are both too powerful as they are. There is currently no reason not to create a Chant-Create Spell and add Sacrifice to every Crafted Spell for a significant discount to all Spells (both Crafting and Casting). Also, this change makes Destroy rather more interesting as its Cost (when not aimed at oneself) roughly matches that of Create.

Maybe I don’t understand how formulas are calculated, but adding the ‘spend a totem’ line decreases the cost by a flat 5, right? And then you also need the ‘earn a totem’ spell, which also has a cost of 5. So currently its a wash, no discount either way. But I don’t get why I’d want to add ‘pay a totem’ to a spell if it really costs 8 and I only get 4 back.

for Clucky - Purplebeard’s point is that you could Chant-Create, which would only cost 2 (5-2), allowing you to gain lots of totems cheaply. Then you could use these totems to get -5 to any spell you create. (Which would be a gain of 3 energy - not a wash).
