Proposal: Let’s make some Chemistry

Self-killed. Failed by Kevan.

In section “Animals, Vegetables and Minerals”, add a grid table called “The Interaction Table”. “The Interaction Table” will show how the different how the different Animals, Vegetables and/or Minerals with react with each other.

I was debating if it should have went under crafting or not

against This tracks information that it’s currently impossible to gather. I’ll be interested in the solution once the problem exists.

Elaborate

React is not a key word. Equipment can be applied to discoveries, but discoveries can’t be applied to each other (yet).  In fact, discoveries can’t be carried or moved at the moment.

Ah

So was there a better way I could have worded it?

Well, it depends on what you were trying to do.

If you were trying to make it so that discoveries could be applied to each other… you’d need to write/modify a rule for picking up discoveries, or picking up pieces of them. Then you’d need to modify the application rules to include discoveries/discovery pieces. And then you’d include the above line as a way to track discoveries applied to each other.

If you are trying to make a new system that tracks things that happen when two discoveries are only near each other, you’d want to make it more clear that was going on, specify a name for the mechanic, and give it some default and stub values.

It’s already passed 2 hour for editing so should I self kill it

And then rephrase it

Yes, that’s probably the way to go.

If you’re intending it as a “discoveries being collected and applied to each other” thing, that sounds quite similar to the existing Crafting system. Discoveries interacting in some other way (Animals predating one another, grazing on Vegetables, etc) could be interesting.

That’s what I was debating over but the Crafting System seemed to be more like Tool + Object not Object + Object

You could always redefine how Crafting worked, or add a new action of “Mixing” which is like Crafting but doesn’t need a Tool. Or add a new, special piece of Equipment which is used solely for combining two Products (“Flammable Liquid and Spines + Blender = Raw Edible Mass”).
