Proposal: Little corks

In the effect of Spikes, change 15 to 3.

In the effect of Ram, change ten to 2.

Increase the Consumption of Spikes to 90, of Flamethrower to 230, and decrease the Consumption of Ram to 60.

In the status Scorched, change 5 to 10.

Balance pass on scratch multipliers; a bumpmurderbot is still possible but becomes a totalising strategy. Flamethrower + 3* Spikes is still outputting 270 damage but anything less than that is damaging but not instantly lethal.

I wouldn’t nerf spikes and ram that hard, makes it so you have no space for an LED banner

I’m personally not seeing the thematic reasons to push for flamethrower and spikes to go together in a single bot. Sure they combo rules-wise, but not in a way that makes sense in-game.

@SB True, their combo is more de facto than de jure. I guess at this stage I’m trying to make as few fundamental changes as possible, and restrict myself to semi-neutral tweaks, as a non-player.

@lendun That’s true, but I think not being able to afford an LED Banner is a valid part of the cost; LED Banners should have an impact on your strategy, and in any case, the tournament is coming; if that does actually start then the Banners will be redundant and I don’t want the spikes strat to be overpowered at that stage.

For me, from a very remote perspective, it’s because the discovery of a fun cool new strategy should be cause for celebration, not immediately destroying it. This attempts to stop it from being completely out of control, but I’m not sure how successfully…

For me, it’s out of respect for the strategy. I’d thought of it a couple of days before it was actually used, so it would feel kinda bad to nerf something into the ground just because someone used it before I got to.

Those Spike and Ram nerfs seem a little too hefty for me. I agree that they need to be tuned back, but not by this much.
