Proposal: Major Characters

Self-killed. - Devenger

Adminned at 28 Mar 2009 01:25:38 UTC

Create a new rule, titled Major Characters, with the following text:

There exist Major Characters, which are listed in the wiki page Major Characters.  Each Major Character has a name, a description, and is either Alive or Dead.  Major Characters can only be created through proposals.  When a Scripter rolls a 5 on the body count roll for a scene, they may change that scene’s body count to 1, and set a single Alive Major Character to Dead, or they can set the body count for that scene to 0 and set a single Dead Major Character to Alive. The change must be noted in the scene.

Create the following Major Characters:

Name: Hero

Description: The hero of the story.

Alive

Name: Man.

Description: Mysterious and Evil.

Alive

for I think tall girl should be a major character, since she can (could) throw trees!

imperial I think major characters ought to be given names… or use the ones they have been given.

Hero and Man are Hero and Man.

Tall Girl is Tall Girl.

Names are not action-packed.

imperial  As it stands, this doesn’t really fit with the existing rules for scene creation, cutting and continuity. If the Hero is Dead, a clever explanation can bring him back to life without contradicting the Scene that killed him, yet keeping him “Dead” on the wiki.

Maybe we need to say that Major Characters can only become dead or alive through this mechanic.

Kevan brings up a good point.  The obvious way out when resuscitating a character is to claim that “they only seemed dead,” but this makes the Alive/Dead values less than specific.  If someone’s Dead, they may not be necessarily dead.

Alternatively, you have to resort to Witchcraft, which Profanes the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
