Proposal: More Juice

In rule 2.1 “Energy”, replace “New Apprentices start with 5 Energy.” with “New Apprentices start with Energy equal to the sum of each Apprentice’s Mastery of the Arcane Domain.”

In rule 2.6 “Recharging”, replace each instance of “five” with “the sum of each Apprentice’s Mastery of the Arcane Domain”.

Simply giving us more energy to use. Notice that Apprentices with Arcane Mastery do *not* gain a special advantage just by this. They already have their higher energy cap and this just gives everyone a little more energy in the long term. Also, this does not cut down on our energy supply at the moment, since our powerful wizard has an Arcane Mastery of 5.

for New Apprentices should probably just start at zero, really, given that they can immediately trigger a Recharge (or a belated personal Recharge if they missed the current week’s).

Hmm, I think it’s not too Bad if new apprentices gain the energy of two weeks basically, since we have an advantage over them anyways, so that might make it easier for them to catch up…

@Kevan the whole point of the belated personal recharge is so that regardless of when in the week you join, you get the same benefits. Everybody else started with five, so I don’t see why new people should be punished.

Well, it’s important to balance “easier for new players to catch up” against “easier for idle players to wake up briefly and do something powerful to help another player”. Once there’s a little more Arcane magic in the air, new players will be starting with a fair amount of Energy.

If you arrive too late to take advantage of a generous early rule, that’s just bad luck. This is Nomic! Everybody but Spitemaster missed out on the chance to travel to the Ancient Temple for 1 Energy, but that’s not necessarily a good reason to propose “each player can move to the Ancient Temple once for 1 Energy”.

Hmm, I guess once there’s more people with arcane mastery, it might actually be too powerful, but right now I think twice a week’s energy for new people is ok. We can (and probably should) change that later though.
