In the rule “Judging”, replace the text “The body of a Judging must be a numbered list” with the following:

The body of a Judging must be the last sentence from the contents of The Story (or last partial sentence if The Story does not end with a complete sentence) followed by a numbered list

If there is an Open Judging, edit the Open Judging post and add the last sentence from the contents of The Story (or last partial sentence if The Story does not end with a complete sentence) just before the numbered list.

It might help Storytellers in Scoring the Fragments if they can easily see the sentence that would come just before that Fragment if it were added to the end of The Story. Yes, they can just look at the sidebar, but having it conveniently in the Judging might be more helpful.

imperial After looking a bit more closely at the ruleset, I’m a little worried that the last sentence of The Story could be considered a Fragment in the Judging and therefore should be assigned a score, which may end up giving 1 additional point to whoever authored the last sentence of the story. Although Storytellers allocate Score “to Fragments according to the numbered list,” the Fragment Scoring action has no such restriction and Total Score for a Fragment is “one plus the Pending Score for that Fragment.”

Ah, the problematic part of the rules is “For each Fragment in the Judging,” and I suppose one could argue that this new sentence from the end of The Story could also be considered a Fragment if it met the criteria for one. It would have to include all of the Current Elements to be a valid Fragment.

I think the simplest fix would be to change it to “each Fragment in the numbered list in the Judging” but it’s too late to edit this now.

If other folks like this idea, we could either patch it later, or if the issue pointed out is too objectionable, I can re-propose it. I don’t want to do that unless there’s sufficient interest, though.
