Roguh draft of first proposal

Create a new Dynastic Rule “Election” with the following text:

Each Candidate save the President has a statistic ‘Votes’ tracked in the GDNT.  A Candidate’s Votes can be any whole number.  The default value for any new Candidate is equal to the ‘Votes’ of the Candidate with the lowest number of Votes. 

Each Candidate save the President also has a statistic GDNT ‘Endorses’ which is tracked in the GDNT.  ‘Endorses’ can be the name of any active Candidate.  A candidate is said to Endorse whichever Candidate is listed under their Endorses.  If at any time a Candidate is Endorsing anyone other than an active Candidate, that Candidate then is set to Endorse themselves.  A Candidate may, as a weekly action, change their Endorse to any active Candidate.

A Candidate’s Total Votes is the sum total of the votes of all Candidates that Endorse them.

On the date 10-4-2008 at 00:00:00 GMT the Candidate, aside from the President with the highest number of Total Votes has achieved victory.

Set each Candidates Votes to 100, Set Amnistar’s Votes to 0.  Set each Candidate’s Endorse to Amnistar.

 

Just to get it out there for people to pick over while we wait for the DoV to pass.

I’m especially curious on people’s thoughts on time.  Is 2 months enough?  Too much? Too Short?

Alright, potential problem I just spotted:

Currently a Candidate’s votes count twice, once for themselves and once for their endorsement.  I’ll have to fix that.

Also, if A endorses B and B endorses A, what happens?  Sounds like an explosion to me.

A’s votes would count to B’s total votes, and B’s votes would count to A’s total votes.

They don’t carry over :P.

Ah, I suppose I should also set it up so that either I have as much Votes as the next guy, or that I don’t have votes.  Probably the latter….

I think the two months is about right. If we are enjoying it, we can push it back and if things go slowly we can move it up.

Why make everyone endorse you? Why not just start endorsing yourself?

I suppose it doesn’t really matter, it was more of a flavor thing :P.  We can set each Candidates endorse to themselves.

I think 2 months is good as at the very least a minimum timeframe, since most of the past few dynasties have lasted that long.

I also think that the endorse section can be used to pass votes on from someone going idle to said endorsie, though i can also see that idea being abused near the end.

It’s what we do :P.

I don’t like the idea of being able to just give away votes, would be to permanent.  With the weekly action to change who you support, you can change your mind.

Mayhaps you could create some kind of a syphon manuver (mud slinging?) where you can steal votes from others.
