@Clucky I don’t think that’s true, and even if it were that doesn’t make it a good or fun mechanic. I think it needs a complete rewrite, but this is the next best thing.

hence why we re-wrote it to remove the clear cut strategies.

no one has done anything with rumors in days. the winnower is a rather passive thing that not much can be done with. and faction swapping basically comes down to just timing and luck. without this (or something similar to replace it with) the dynasty would become incredibly stale

It may be that going back to basics would be a useful creative jolt, although there’s a good question as to why the rumours / confessions stuff hasn’t caught on as well - what kind of action are players looking for here?

Campaigns does feel like one of Cuddlebeam’s classic “here’s a big list of fun at-any-time actions, one of which is a scam” rules which has now been smoothed down to a few simple options and (with Mob Contacts) one timing issue.

Rumours and Confessions both seem too amorphous to see regular usage, from here: I’ve never really gotten the thinking behind Rumours not naming the target at all, and my eyes keep sliding off of the 400-word Confessions rule.

there were some scams, but with Josh’s rewrite I’m not sure any survived Josh’s rewrite

so far we have little evidence of any super large scams. the actual final power totals have been very close to what one would expect (assuming cuddlebeam gave up their power before idling)
