Proposal: A bunch of long-needed fixes

Times out and fails, 1-7. —Brendan

In rule 2.5 (“Lessons”), replace:

If a Student Brown Noses, they stand a chance of becoming Teacher’s Pet at the end of the lesson.

with

If a Student Brown Noses, they stand a chance of becoming Teacher’s Pet at the end of the lesson. A student can only Brown Nose if his current grade in the Lesson’s Subject is A+.

In rule 2.7 (“Library”) replace:

As a weekly action, a Student who is Alive may Study in the Library by incrementing their Grade in any one main Subject. As a weekly action, a student who is a Zombie may convert to Zombie status any other student who Studied in the Library in the previous 24 hours and is still Alive.

with

As a weekly action, a Student who is Alive and who is Free may Study in the Library by incrementing their Grade in any one main Subject. As a weekly action, a student who is a Zombie and who is Free may convert to Zombie status any other student who Studied in the Library in the previous 24 hours and is still Alive.

In rule 2.9 (“Explosive Language”) replace:

If the result is a 1, 2 or 3 then an accident occurs.

with

If the result is 3 or less then an accident occurs.

In rule 2.10 (“Prefects”) replace:

highest or second-highest combined total Spell Power in all subjects.

with

highest or second-highest combined total Spell Power in all subjects except UNE.

If more than half the EVC contain “That’s useless, dude.”, the rest of the proposal does nothing.
Rename rule 2.17 (“Keep yourself organized down there. Single file I said!”) to “Restrooms”.

I wanted to fix the “Ha! Your comment is this lesson is not valid, now it’s lost to you! N00b!” issue, but I couldn’t find just the words, and I didn’t want it to make this proposal fail. I’m only dealing with small issues here.

against The Library change is good, but I think we’re better off without the “A+” requirement for Brown Nosing - it’s just an optional, easy bonus for the game’s few A+ students. Without that restriction, it’s a little more interesting.

against I don’t like the change to explosive language as it makes spellcasting basically impossible at low grades. It should be hard, but a 20% chance of success seems harsh.

against per Kevan, but then I think it should be more obvious when someone Brown-Noses. Right now, I don’t see a way to know that a student has been Brown-nosing. No GNDT comment, no explicit comment. Am I missing something, or is there really no way?

[Roujo] True - they have to “posting a comment on the Lesson’s entry, describing their behaviour”, but they could do that obliquely. Maybe we should require a single-sentence “Studying” or “Brown-Nosing” as part of the comment, since this is what people seem to be doing anyway.
