Proposal: A pun on ‘Alucard’ and ‘Alacrity’, I’ll figure it out later

In the rule Richardo’s Journey, change

If it has been at least 24 hours since the Crypt was last entered, and at least 12 hours since the last Power Action was taken, and there are no pending calls for judgement which have the tag “[Pressing]”, Richardo von Nestor may Enter the Crypt, Richardo von Nestor may Enter the Crypt, which is an atomic action with the following steps:

to read

If either of the following is true:

*it has been at least 24 hours since the last Enter the Crypt action concluded, and at least 12 hours since the last Power Action was taken
*it has been at least 72 hours since the last Enter the Crypt action concluded

and there are no pending calls for judgement which have the tag “[Pressing]”, Richardo von Nestor may Enter the Crypt.

Entering the Crypt is an atomic action with the following steps:

Remove the word “half” from the rule The Organ.

Alucrity

Alacrard

Alucracrity

Hang on, I’ve almost got it

ehhh I’m not a fan of this approach. I feel like it might actually result in things taking longer, because now the optimal strategy is to do passive actions to delay the round 3 days, and then get your actions in right at the deadline before people have time to respond

Yeah. I would have liked some Puissance earlier today, but I wouldn’t have enjoyed (as Jason was managing unerringly early in the dynasty) someone getting in with big tactical actions right before the shutters came down. I can wait another hour.

If time windows are tricky and Josh won’t always be around when the 12 hours is up, could there be some mileage in allowing any player to start playing the Organ as soon as there’s been a 12-hour gap, and only Josh to turn it off?

I agree with Clucky that this won’t properly fix things. I’m torn on whether or not it’s an improvement over the current situation.

I also agree with the voters that my attempted fix is overly complicated (although I felt I had to try something). But I can’t find anything simpler that works properly.

Maybe there just isn’t a viable fix for the issue? It’s not unknown for dynasties to reach situations where everything you do is simply just trading one timing scam for another.

Oh, another possibility is to make Puissance costs increase over time (and reset when the crypt is entered).

That way, delaying an action to respond to someone else makes it more expensive – it’s still possible, but you wouldn’t do it without a good reason. This would also produce a natural limit on how long the timer could be bumped for, because once the costs had reached +12 there would be no more actions possible.

@Kevan: “I would have liked some Puissance earlier today, but I wouldn’t have enjoyed (as Jason was managing unerringly early in the dynasty) someone getting in with big tactical actions right before the shutters came down.”

For the record I wasn’t really paying attention to when the timer expired. At the beginning, I was just doing what seemed reasonable whenever I happened to check (a few times a day). I have no idea if you’ll believe me about that but /shrug.

For the pun in the title: “Draculacrity” seems to work.
