(Trigon posted two identical copies of this - since they’re not official documents, I’ve gone ahead and deleted the one with the later timestamp.)

Impressive scores there - unless Derrick was bluffing hard and fooled all of us, Brendan got a full 100%. Was there any collusion with other players there, or was it all deduction? I considered reaching out to Brendan when I began to get a feel that he was supporting my pro-State proposals (Heat being bad, moving the date as early as possible, shutting down weekend actions), but wasn’t sure if it was a trap.

How did that dynasty feel compared to other hidden-role ones? It was a relief not to have to keep a poker face, as Emperor, and it looks like we did okay without a “hidden kill” mechanic. (I suppose we could still have had one, in the form of some anonymous, off-Nomic posting system, where anyone could trigger an event which was bad for the group.)

What do you mean by a “hidden kill” mechanic?

Scattered thoughts:

I think it felt overall similar to other hidden-role dynasties. Unlike other hidden-role dynasties I didn’t do any coordination with other players but I think that’s more because the rules didn’t encourage it.

From a non-emperor perspective, it felt like there was about the same amount of potential emperor’s thumb on the scales. Not knowing everyone’s identity does mean there’s no chance of accidentally revealing identities through side-channels. But as a player with a full win available to potentially give away for deals, you can easily move things that way. Not saying that you did.

Using hashes might turn away less-technical potential players. But overall, hashes did have a cleaner feel and I would support using them in the future.

Just the Werewolf/Mafia thing where certain roles are able to take actions anonymously.

Coordination felt a bit all-or-nothing here, because of the hashes - in a regular Werewolf dynasty a private claim about one’s own identity can never (unless a rule requires the Emperor to confirm it) be proven, but here if I approached Brendan claiming to be a Cop, he could ask me to reveal my hashed phrase. In retrospect the four factions did allow some grey areas (I could have just claimed to be anti-Plan) which I probably should have explored.

True about the hashes - we did have some (I think genuine) carelessness in the Prisoner’s Dilemma dynasty with players mislaying their plaintexts. It might be worth thinking about other ways to hide and reveal information, or making a custom BlogNomic-context MD5 engine which explains itself and keeps a log somewhere.

I posted it twice because the first one wasn’t showing up after I posted it. I was messing with aspects of the post that I shouldn’t've been. Sorry.

If anyone is interested, derrick’s sentence is: peace on earth, good will to men

For the sake of openness, there was an alliance between Brendan and me that later expanded to include derrick. We figured it would be beneficial to all of us if we were able to post our Impact by 6 points each.

Unfortunately, due to the timing of the Big Day, derrick never filed a report or revealed his identity. He told us that if we won, we’d better make a good dynasty. If you’re reading this, pokes, that falls on you now.

If you read my commentary on this dynasty on its wikipage, you’ll see that I was a huge fan of this dynasty. I’ve been done a hidden identities dynasty before, so perhaps that factored into it.

This dynasty was fun not only because of the concept, but also because we had some really good mechanics to supplement it. Good job to everyone who participated!
