Proposal: Concerning Subrules

Self-killed. — Quirck

If the rule “Grading” exists, add a subrule titled “Concerning Subrules” with the following text:

A rule may not cause a Student to Score if it is a parent rule, sibling rule or subrule of a rule which has previously caused the Student to Score.

Hopefully this wording prevents scoring multiply under a single dynastic rule. I had considered allowing siblings rules, but I imagine sibling rules would be tied closely to one another, making a second score easier than it ought to be.

for We’ll just have to be careful specifying Rule/subrule.

But are we sure this doesn’t break the system because all Dynastic rules are technically subrules or something?

“Rule
Each individually numbered section of the ruleset is a rule, including sections that are sub-rules of other rules.”
Section 2. Dynastic Rules. It is a rule by this definition.

“Sibling Rule
Two rules are “siblings” of each other if they are both direct subrules of the same rule.”
So dynastic rules 2.X are all siblings. Right?

Ha, that’s fun.

against Self-kill then. I took Dynastic Rules to not be a rule itself due to the lack of its own content.

re Bucky’s vote: are we allowed to “line-item vote” on proposals? e.g., can voters conceivably pass part of a rule while not passing the rest, thus potentially passing a rule that has a different wording than the author intended?

This does not seem like it’s legal, but I was just curious because that seems to be how Bucky voted.

Ragnar: No you can’t (the last vote in the post is the valid one) unless the author worded the Proposal in such a way that it is possible, like:

if more than half of the EVC’s on this Proposal contain the sentence “The siblings as well”, add to said subrule: “This applies to sibling rules as well”

There have been multiple choice Proposals also.
They are not very popular.

It basically means I’d vote for a proposal to change that one thing, but like the rest enough to vote FOR.
