Proposal: Its time for Blognomic to be more democratic

I think it is 9-2, quorum of against votes.—Rodlen

Adminned at 18 Dec 2008 10:28:49 UTC

In rule “1.8 Dynasties” change the text:

The Narrator may vote to VETO any Proposal.

To:

As a daily action, the Narrator may vote to VETO any one Proposal.

I understand that some Proposals may be silly enough to get failed on sight, yet, why should the Emperor police us on every single one of them? Why do we have to think our actions through, yet the Emperor can blast anything he wishes with no need for justification? The power of the VETO is fine, but it should not be over abused as it has been in the later dynasties. If Yoda vetoes this, I’m gonna CfJ based on his behavior.

against The veto has been used well this dynasty.

Basically, this would have been well-recieved during Anthony’s dynasty, but not during one where the veto has been used responsibly.

Who defines what “resposible use” is? The Quorum of players or the emperor? Why does a single player have to decide that?

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 04:45:52 UTC

Well, I personally believe that all the vetoes this dynasty worked.  Either they were for stupid proposals, or proposals that were failing anyway.

Or proposals that were bad for me.

Or as an alternative to self-killing.

Yoda:

Even though I am tempted to veto this (AHHH!!! Anthony get away from me!!!!), I will resist.  against

Same as rodlen.  Remember, if you REALLY want to win or work around VETO’s, we have the CfJ.

Yoda:

18-12-2008 04:53:51 UTC

Exactly.  And you can even post CfJs anonymously in case you don’t want the Emperor to know it’s you, like when I posted the anon CfJ in Rodlen’s dynasty calling for Chuck Norris to be added as a Planar Entity (yes, that was me) and when I used a CfJ to trick people into voting me in at the end of the same dynasty.

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 04:55:24 UTC

YOU!!!

YOU!!!

HOW DARE YOU MENTION CHUCK NORRIS!?!

CHUCK NORRIS IS NOTHING COMPARED TO BLUE STEEL!!!

Chuck Norris rocks anyways.

Yoda:

Rodlen:

By the way, it is all a Nemesis plot.

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:08:57 UTC

Nope.  In fact…

*spoiler warning*

Lord Recluse is canonically a Nemesis plot.  Mender Silos, aka Lord Nemesis (anagram), leads Ouroboros.  Mender Tesseract had your villain bring Recluse to power as part of an Ouroboros strike force.

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:10:32 UTC

Or at least, it is semi-canonical.

Nemesis led the group that brought Recluse to power, basically.

Ah. Must be on the CoV end. I’ve been more CoH

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:13:34 UTC

Yeah, Tesseract is CoV only.  However, Ouroboros is both.

Also on the villains’ end:

Nemesis makes villains think they are just his automatons.

Yeah, I mostly play villains.

City of Heroes. mass multi player game. And I can see where ya ideas come from Rod lol

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:16:14 UTC

The MMORPG City of Heroes and its standalone expansion City of Villains.

Summed up quickly: Both games are Nemesis plots.

Darknight: he/him

Rodlen:

Level 36 brutes hurt Nemesis a lot.

Oh, and just something you may be interested in: The villain contact The Radio, an early contact, gives more info about the Outbreak drug.

It would seem to me that any Emperor who would let this pass unVetoed is one we don’t need to do it to - but I can see the desire to prevent future bad emperors from abusing their power.

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:25:04 UTC

Ah yes, Good vs. Evil.  Nice jump pack, and the lowest-level tailor ever.

And a badge.

And costume parts.

I have the DVD editions of both games as well as GvE.

Darknight: he/him

18-12-2008 05:28:26 UTC

Nice. the only char i made so far is a Lv 15 ice theme tanker. The raptor pack temp power was awesome to use…. until it faded and left me smack in the middle of the f-ing Boomtown zone.

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:31:45 UTC

I’ve got more jetpacks than I will ever need.

CoV gives them out in large amounts.

Goldbricker packs.

Sky Raider packs.

Oh, and ouch.  Boomtown is NOT a good place to be in.

At least death is pretty minor.

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:33:55 UTC

By the way, that Outbreak tutorial zone is a major part of the underlying plot.  Very important.

Darknight: he/him

18-12-2008 05:36:21 UTC

No kidding. Damn clockwork zapping my srry butt lol. Made it a point to use my once every 3 days mission pass over if it would send me back to Boomtown. And thanks for that tip Rod lol. I really detest clockwork.

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:40:19 UTC

Ugh, clockwork.  But hey, at least they are not the following:

*Circle of Thorns (fuck them)
*Malta (very late villains, known for 45 second stuns…they are the reason Break Frees are good)
*Knives of Artemis or Tsoo (both bad because of caltrop overdose)
*Circle of Thorns (fuck them)

My new assault rifle blaster can barely survive clockwork.  He can survive COT of all things, but not clockwork.

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:43:11 UTC

Or even worse, Vanguard, the anti-melee group.

Darknight: he/him

18-12-2008 05:43:14 UTC

LOL. The only COT I hate are the ones that stun or deactive powers. The Lost are cake to me. I did a Midnight Squad mission that let me get a temp power that cured them. Quite fun. Ritki…. Not so much

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:44:19 UTC

Ah yes, that temporary power.  I love watching everyone try to kill the civilians that are created by it.  The invincible civilians.  Why can’t THEY save the world instead of me?

Darknight: he/him

18-12-2008 05:45:39 UTC

LMAO. That always kinda ticked me off cause ya have to be rather close to use the wand and they go running off after the cured.

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:47:08 UTC

But still, the cowardly civilians have more powerful powers than the superpowered heroes and villains.

Darknight: he/him

18-12-2008 05:48:12 UTC

lol. The zombies are fun. the truely undead ones half the time never see ya walk by lol.

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:50:25 UTC

Truly undead ones?  The truly undead zombies I’ve seen notice me quickly.  In fact, the true undead really come in at mid-high levels.

Vahzilok zombies don’t count.

Darknight: he/him

18-12-2008 05:52:51 UTC

Lol ah. Rikti still are a pain. Ya get caught in one of those mass invader spawns? Holy crud thats insane

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:54:22 UTC

Yep.  Got the accolade.

Easiest serious accolade (gives a bonus) to get.

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:55:19 UTC

Oh, and I find Rikti (and their earlier forms) pretty easy.  Knock them down and keep them down.

Darknight: he/him

18-12-2008 05:58:33 UTC

Not easy when i kinda lack knock down powers. I did have one of those hammer temp powers that kicked major ass. Btw, ya ever have powers ya don’t have suddenly seem to activate on a char before?

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 05:59:36 UTC

Are the icons green?  If so, then someone is buffing you through Empathy.

Darknight: he/him

18-12-2008 06:01:51 UTC

Not sure. All i recall is having some of the higher level ice armor powers and the iceicle power, witch i didn’t have either, suddenly trigger for about a min or 2.

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 06:03:00 UTC

...odd.

I think I know why that is happening:

Nemesis chose that it would be best if that happened.
