Proposal: Jason is dead, long live Jason.

vetoed—Yoda

Adminned at 17 Dec 2008 20:11:52 UTC

Per rule “2.7 The End” the Protagonist has died (by being shot by Arthexis) and thus, no one can win the Dynasty. So, I propose that the current Dynasty ends and a new Dynasty begins instead.

Characters become Players. The Narrator becomes the Emperor. Remove all Dynastic Rules.

against I’m sorry, but you italicized the text.  Oh, and it was not part of the plot seed.

“If this sum is less than or equal to 0, the Protagonist dies and a new metadynasty begins.” is also against this proposal.  The metadynasty only starts if the Protagonist dies through The End.

Oh, and we may still make it to the time when Jason would normally die.

I made a second plot seed :)

Klisz:

Will the new dynasty be the BloGnoMic metadynasty?

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 03:37:44 UTC

Oh, and Yoda may just remove your seed.  He has powers like that.

Lets let Yoda decide.

But take the next sentence: ” If the Protagonist has not died, the Character with the most PP (of the Characters with a Relationship greater than 0) achieves victory. If two or more of those Characters tie for the most plot points then the Character in the tie with the higher Relationship achieves victory. In the event that causes another tie the players who tied for both shall roll DICEX, where X is relationship + PP for each player. “

This is the only way to achieve victory in the ruleset. Since the Protagonist is dead, no one can achieve victory.

Two words: secret rule.

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 03:38:56 UTC

Oh, and how does Jason die before he will die?  Please don’t mess up the future.

“There exists a wiki document called the Plot Summary whose contents have no direct effect on gamestate.”

Ha!

Wait a second! Yoda always seems to agree with Rodlen.

SOCKPUPPETS!

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 03:41:55 UTC

Basically, Jason’s life is gamestate, as it effects the game directly.

Therefore, Jason cannot die through the Plot Summary page.

arthexis: he/him

18-12-2008 03:41:57 UTC

It says “direct effect”. Yet, this is not really a direct effect, more like a side effect actually.

Rodlen:

Darth: No, Yoda and I had a pretty big war at the start of my dynasty.

He declared victory after I won the previous dynasty, but before my dynasty started.

That led to a mess.

Klisz:

18-12-2008 03:43:10 UTC

Rodlen isn’t even denying it…

Yay, almost 20 responses in less than five minutes… yeah, I know how to keep players on their toes ;)

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 03:44:43 UTC

It is a pretty direct effect.

Jason dying in plot summary page is being used to mean Jason dies in gamestate.  You are trying to directly effect the gamestate with the plot summary page.

Aside from which, he didn’t die.  It was really ME!

:D

Rodlen:

Good point, Amnistar.

Klisz:

18-12-2008 03:47:47 UTC

It’s not direct. Direct would be if “Jason dies in plot” automatically causes “Jason dies in gamestate”. Here, “Jason dies in plot” leads to “Jason dies in gamestate” through the proposal.

eljefe:

18-12-2008 03:47:51 UTC

Yeah, Jason can’t be killed via plot summary posting.

And in any case, assuming a plot summary post had any real meaning beyond dramatic impetus, someone could just as easily post

...or so Arthexis thought!

after yours.

Anyhow, it ends in 20 hours. Let it be. ;)

Rodlen:

18-12-2008 03:49:06 UTC

Darth: What I see is a proposal saying that Jason’s death in the plot means that Jason dies in the gamestate, a direct effect.  This proposal is really more like CfJ material: a clarification of the rules.

eljefe:

18-12-2008 03:50:24 UTC

DC—

Then, Arthexis would have to amend the ruleset (specifically “The End”), not just post a proposal declaring Smith dead.

Rodlen:

Plus, this would not create a metadynasty.  It would create a new dynasty with the same Emperor, as the emperor is not changed.
