Hello! Earlier in this Dynasty, I messaged both Raven1207 and Darknight, as I had forgotten that No Private Communication was in effect. Raven1207 has provided the transcript of our conversation, but I would like to also provide the transcript of the conversation between Darknight and I.

Darknight- with both our names starting with D, the 4th most likely letter to be rolled, you and I are both severely disadvantaged by Josh’s proposal. Acronyms can be only 3 letters long- if we get something like BDC, we’re in a much worse situation than other players. Josh will rarely have to worry about the letter J appearing in an acronym, which is probably part of why he proposed it, but you and I are going to have to work around it pretty frequently. I suggest voting Against Josh’s proposal, and in your own proposal, allowing points for using your own name but not making it mandatory.

Ah true. I haven’t worked the full details of my idea yet but I can cov

I might message Raven as well depending on how they vote, since R will come up about as often as D does- which is to say, about 5.5 times more often than J.

True. Quick aside, I’m guessing 3 is the average for length rolls from John? I might be misreading his first proposal
DoomedIdeas — 6/19/2025 4:45 PM
No- it’s 3 minimum, 7 maximum, so probably around 5 on average.
They can end up as only 3 letters, if we get a bad roll- that’s what I meant.

My apologies for forgetting the rule, and for forgetting that I had messaged Raven1207 and Darknight. Thank you!

Story Post: No Private Communication - Report 2
Comments
Kevan: he/him
It also catching DoomedIdeas seems to have been its downfall.
I don’t suppose there’s a Discord setting that we could use as a reminder about No Private Communication, if one player tries to DM another during such a dynasty? Seems imaginable that some Discords might have something like that for “the dev team will never ask for your password” warnings.
DoomedIdeas: he/him
@Josh I did not, no. I wanted to have some flexibility in potential Backronym choices, and your proposal directly countered that.
@Kevan That would be helpful!
Josh: he/they
@Kevan The problem is that each discord is an island, and user relationships / DMs sit outside of that island. I can put all the warnings I want on the server itself but the DM function is outwith, so nothing I do is going to touch it.
@DoomedIdeas It’s sort of a perverse incentive, though; that was definitely the moment where I realised that this wasn’t going to be a fun, light, breezy dynasty.
DoomedIdeas: he/him
@Josh Is it not currently fun and light? Am I missing something?
JonathanDark: Puzzler he/him
I am similarly confused. “Light and breezy dynasty” is fairly subjective, so it’s probably just differences of opinion on where strategic play crosses that line.
I’d argue that every dynasty no matter the theme is going to have some strategic play merely due to requiring one of the players to achieve victory. How much is too much for “light and breezy” is up for debate.

Wow, your really didn’t like that one proposal!
