Proposal: Not-so Fully Operational Battle Stations

Append the following to the first paragraph of the Rule “Combat”:

If the Attacker’s Ship Class is “Space Station” then A is reduced by half their firepower, rounded down.

As your Potentate, I cannot stand idly by as an entire sector is being held hostage by a rogue station. We are taking steps to reduce the offensive capabilities of these stations; their weapon installments are for defense, not terror.

for I was thinking that something like this was needed. Although there should be some mechanic to deal with the issue of having two space stations in the same location

against If a Captain chooses to park their ship right in front of my giant death beam, that’s their problem. It’s not like there aren’t dozens of other Sectors out there that are perfectly safe from my murderous rage. I would support a Module with this effect, though.

kikar: There’s a perfectly good way of dealing with that particular issue. I’ve been trying to execute it for days, but the dice aren’t helping.

Purplebeard: I meant if this rule passes, the attacks will presumably become even less effective. Also, Larrytheturtle is right. Space Stations are supposed to be trading hubs not slaughterhouses.

Purplebeard, you’re getting off-theme. Honestly, you’re a terrorist not a covert government operative. And again, its a trading hub, not a “giant death beam”. And people are trying to park next to kikar, not you.

against This would reduce the effective ability of Space Stations to make pre-emptive strikes or initiate counterattacks against known hostile targets. This amendment would essentially mean that Space Stations must wait to be Raided in order to be fully effective in combat, which gives the attacker greater control over the conditions of the attack and therefore a tactical advantage.

But they have an high amount of Firepower; Raiding one is a dumb idea unless you’ve increased yourself enough that they couldn’t preemptively touch you anyway.

for I didn’t even know that this was happening. I find it hard to follow because a lot of major actions take place only in the GNDT.
